Get Ready With Me

17th September 2019  To those who are no longer with me,  I’m late, I know, I know, I’m sorry! This last week has been so crazy hectic and it wasn’t until I was walking out the door for the second time today that I realised I’m supposed to have a post up in an hour and I didn’t have one written. I really do not know what today's  post is about, it’s just a random little chit-chat, I guess. If this was a YouTube video, it would be a ‘Get Ready with Me.’ I’ve been in my new flat now for three days I think, I moved in on Saturday, and, although I didn’t want to love alone, I am. No-one’s fault, there was a mix up with the system and now I’m adulting hard by living alone. I do however, know that I am going to get lonely at some point. But as you know, I have a great system of friends in my life right now that won’t let me isolate myself and I am so very, very thankful for that. Today my timetable for the next academic year was released and I’m not going to lie, ...

Breakfast: 'a Meal Eaten in the Morning, the First of the Day.'

10th September 2019 To those who are no longer with me,  My mind has been sufficiently blown. What is breakfast? For years, (and by years, I mean my entire life, up until last night at least) I believed it was stuff like cereal, and toast and bacon and eggs and food of that ilk. According to the Oxford English Dictionary: ‘a meal eaten in the morning, the first of the day.’ Nothing specific noted there! Yesterday it was mums birthday and for it she received Nadiya Hussain’s (2015 Bake off Winner) latest book, and in it there is an entire section dedicated to breakfast, however, no the kind of dishes your mind first thinks of when someone says ‘breakfast’ and let me tell you, this has been the highlight of my year. Breakfast can literally be anything you want, just in a small portion. I could have toad in the hole for breakfast if I wanted (one of Nadiya’s suggestions in her book). I could have Chinese if I wanted. I could have a wonderful fish-finger sandwich if I wanted ...

The Distraction that is The Sims

3rd September 2019  To those who are no longer with me,  There is a plague upon this world, it crawls into the mind of its host and infests it for months at a time, it becomes the source of all procrastination, nothing ever gets done, and then just as quickly as it came, it disappears. Its name sparks horror and chills parents to the bone. It is called The Sims.   The Sims is a weird one, most of us love it, we really do, but oddly we tend to have bursts of energy when it comes to actually playing it. Well, I know this is true for myself. I’ll have maybe a three-month period where nothing gets done because I’ll be so distracted by the Sims and I’ll play it religiously. Then one day I’ll get bored and won’t touch the game for maybe six months or more. Right now I’m trying to get it out of my system, I have a week left before I go back to university for my second year of studying law, and if I thought last year was hard, then this year is going to be like walk...

Water
Everything on the earth bristled, the bramble
pricked and the green thread
nibbled away, the petal fell, falling
until the only flower was the falling itself.
Water is another matter,
has no direction but its own bright grace,
runs through all imaginable colors,
takes limpid lessons
from stone,
and in those functionings plays out
the unrealized ambitions of the foam.
